Happy Wednesday!

Here is Natalee sharing her book today. She use illustrative text! Can you find it??? She'll be adding a recording and posting her book tomorrow!

Here is the book where we found some illustrative text! Audrey Wood is a GREAT author! Check her out :)

Here is a snapshot of a sample of some of the work I do with kiddos during AVMR or small math group time. Olivia and some other friends are working on forward number word sequence with teens and twenties!

Today....I wanted to see if my students could actually draw a pattern and then rename it! WOWZA.

Rhyming words have the same ending! See you if and your child can produce some rhyming words together!

We were learning a 2nd way to share during Daily 5 today. Now we can share like this....
My favorite part is...
I didn't know that! (non-fiction books are good for discoveries like this)

Will's Book

We have been studying books by authors that we love! So now, the children who actually try something that we've seen an author do.....will get to put his or her book on the blog!

Yay!

Happy Tuesday :)

Look at our rhyming dust bunnies! A great book for you to read/own is......The Rhyming Dust Bunnies! There is even a sequel! Olivia V. checked it out and we read it the other day. Today we practice producing rhyming words with our bunnies!

Here is a K02 friend working on a patterning card.

Reagan is building and extending snap cube patterns during math choice board.

Here is Jaxon using our fancy chair to tell us what he knew about the word pouch (a word from our big book). We also talked about the learning word illustration.
Be sure to use the words illustration and text at home. Ask your child to point to the illustration/text while you're enjoying a good book together!

Happy Monday!

Today we talked about the first of three ways that we will share after our Daily 5 (reading workshop time).
Today's way is My favorite part is...We talked about how important it is to say more--tell more. You shouldn't be super fast and say, "I like that page!"

Try this at home when you read together :)

Here are some good shots of us practicing how to share....my favorite part is...

We played this SUPER fun police game to help us practice our snap words! It's really motivating. We had 10 police officers (with badges--oh yes). The officers wouldn't let us drive by unless we stopped and read their snap word. Very fun!!!

Brody's Pattern!

Great pattern Brody! I am so happy to see that you work on school things at home :)

I asked the kids to name this pattern....and here is what we got:
 1 2 1 2
A B A B
Chicken Ham Chicken Ham
Blue Green Blue Green
Pink Purple Pink Purple

Many teachers only teach kids to name the pattern with ABC, etc. BUT that is only one way to name a pattern! We just want them to see that a pattern repeats over and over again---that is early algebraic thinking :) WOW.
