We read, Mouse Paint. We talked about how readers can read color words. In fact, through our survey, we are learning the color words quite quickly!!
Then we went on a color hunt around the room. I couldn't believe how many kids decided to try and write the color words next to what they drew. Smart!
We also read these two shape books. We talked about how shapes are in books and readers read about shapes! Then we went on a shape hunt in the classroom. We learned that even when we're driving.....we're reading!!! There are words in so many places in the world, that we don't even realize we're reading sometimes. Reading isn't just about sitting down with a book.
Oh...and yes, there were two students who told us about hexagons and heptagons.

We practiced putting our story problem (it was blank today) in our math problem solving notebooks. We'll try our first problem on Friday. Wish us luck!!
Here we are sharing our writing with each other. These guys and gals are good at adding more pictures or words to their stories now. We still are learning that writers....
don't draw pretty pictures just to draw pretty pictures.
We write what we know about!
