Happy Friday Everyone :)

Well, didn't we have a productive week? We are just becoming more and more grown-up every day. 

We celebrated Maddux's birthday on Wednesday! His little sister got to come and join the fun with some big kids! 

Today we had a lot of fun talking about Spring....which IS coming up soon! YAY! We made a countdown too....and the children helped lay it out like a number line (before we hung it up.)

Here is a shot of Jaymeson sharing his writing! You should stop by and see our tooth fairy stories!!!! Some of us are still working on spaces, punctuation and capital letters....these are all very important skills that you should continue to work on over the summer for first grade.

A very special little girl celebrated her 1/2 birthday today. We had a lot of fun today with you and your mom, Ally!

Here we are practicing good conversational skills during Newsbook. We are improving! We are even remembering how to ask a question and how that is different than telling a story.

We are focusing in on fun characters in books. When your child retells a story, he or she should name the characters and not say, "He did this...and she went there," etc.

We drew characters that we know....from movies, TV and books! We even got Cookie Monster saying, "Num, num!" Haha! 

We celebrated a lot of 1/2 birthdays this week! Happy 1/2 birthday to our friend Lauren :) 

It's important that your child be able to solve simple addition and subtraction story problems. We are learning not to draw fancy pictures...but to use quick drawings like tallies and dots.

We are talking about whether the problems involve combining or separating....and +/-

Because of dental health month...we talked about how to take care of our teeth. Some of us are even noticing that we have calcium in our snacks!

Happy 1/2 birthday to Kelan too!!!! What a fun book! We got a brand new Piggie and Elephant book :) :) 

Here we are working on dot patterns. It's very important that students learn to subitize...a fancy word for quickly recognizing small quantities of numbers (like on a dice). This will eventually help them with addition, subtraction, and composing/decomposing numbers.

We were playing and Taylor made Tom, me and Hayden :) Awww! 

Zander was hard at work during Daily 5!

We are working on conversational skills. Please continue to encourage speaking loudly and being a good listener at home. We are also working on asking questions with question words like who, what, when, where and why.
