We had a busy and full day of learning!
We read, We Are in a Book, by Mo Willems. Mo's style, as an author, is to use a lot of speech bubbles! We saw that Braylee used speech bubbles in her writing and we think we can try too!
In math, we started doing some movement patterns...like snap/clap/snap/clap. I asked the kids to see if they could join in with me and they could! We talked about how the movement was repeating over and over again. I asked them if they knew what this was called in math and they said, "Repeating, copying, copy cat." Haha. So cute! I introduced the word 'pattern' with a bubble graph and the kids helped me fill it in with EVERYTHING they know about patterns. They did pretty well!!
Will really stumped us today with this pattern: brown brown yellow yellow.
About half of our friends thought it was not a pattern because it had two colors in a row.
I kept repeating the definition: A pattern has a unit that repeats over and over and then they figured it out!

We had a special visitor come today! Piggy and Elephant left us reading pointers!!!!! There was a secret note on the door when we came in from recess!
