Writing How To Stories

We've just jumped right back into more work in our how-to unit. It's so fun to see them actively writing and sharing their stories with each other. Look at Kiera's front cover! Now who wouldn't want to read that?!

Kiera realized, through our mini-lesson, that she didn't have quite enough details. She had told the reader to "put their soccer gear on." Well, what does that mean? A swimming suit? A hat? You have to tell very specific details when teaching someone how to do something. You HAVE to check out her additional sentences below :)

Charlie wrote an adorable story about how to do gymnastics...her most favorite thing to talk about at school!

We learned that writers often read to a partner so that partner can figure out if anything is missing or needs to be added.

Just look at this diagram that Carson made! I talked to him about a diagram for a few minutes and I won't even teach a real lesson on it until next week!

Here is what she added! So cute!

Another beautiful diagram, with labels, by Braylee.

One of our first tries at using the amazing DOT DOT DOT...
