During our small group work we're doing what's called AVMR. It's a way to teach number sense, counting, addition/subtraction and structuring. It allows me to group the kids according to where they are at and then teach to the next level.
The chips above are what I used today to work on number word sequences. We counted from 0 and touched each chip. Then we repeated the last number and counted backwards. Counting backwards is GREAT practice. It's much harder for most kids.

I also used this number track. We point to the numbers and read them. Then we lift one flap at a time, point to the number and read it. Then we lift one flap, read it and guess what number will be under the next flap (number after). I have numeral tracks made for much higher numbers too.
