We started off our day by naming Nora as our VIP!
Then...Owen noticed that she has the 'or' chunk in her name. Congratulations Owen!!!
We worked on our first Hidden Words together! We wrote a short story together and then circled all of the hidden words we could find. The math at the bottom was SUPER fun! They were all about it. I wrote 0 + 0 = 0 and they knew how to continue the doubles with 1+1, 2+2, etc....BUT then we got to 5+5=10 and I wrote it up next to the 0+0=0 and they noticed it had a zero in the answer...just like 10 does. Then I asked them where to put 10+10 and the knew!
THEN...it even gets better...we've been having this big discussion over the past few weeks about what is 'technically' the first teen number. A lot of them think it's 13, like Mrs. Stefani (the math guru from our District)...because it's got the word 'teen' in it. I think it's 10 though, because numbers go in decades! Miles agrees with me and seeing the zero in the 10 proved to him that his thinking was right!!!! So awesome!!!!
