Book Picnic!

Wait...is that US reading on top and underneath tables? It sure is!!!! You can read a good book anywhere! 

We had a glow in the dark book. Of course we HAD to go in our dark bathroom and see if it worked! 

We had 3D books! VERY FUN! 

Busy Week! Sorry for late pics!

Here is a morning sentence we wrote recently.  Couple of things to point out....

Do you notice that the word Christmas starts with a capital letter? This is something that our young writers should start working on the second half of this year.

Ask your kiddo if he or she can find 'chunks' in the sentence! I bet they can! 

What did you think of our hibernating bears? Aren't they adorable???

We did start talking about adding and subtracting this week. They will be expected to write some formulas next year...but we really want them to have a strong understanding of what it all means.

Try writing a math sentence like this....and they might tell you it's backwards!
5=4+1
They might tell you that this is false....

4=4 

We HUDDLED UP today to work on our first number race! Today we only did 1-20...but soon we'll work to 100! 

I was encouraging them to look for patterns. Like the 2 and the '2' in 12 should line up.

 Here are some pictures of our schema about where bears live!!! Can you tell what they were thinking? 

Will shared with us that bears live in the mountains too. We have been talking about how scientists like to ask questions and they are always wondering about things. There is a fun website for you called "Wonderopolis." I enjoy going there and wondering with kiddos.

Working with patterns. Only a few of us had trouble breaking patterns apart! 

This is a super fun game called, Roll a Color. We practice snap words and handwriting with this game.
