A Very Busy Tuesday...

As we continue to learn about Earth Day....we decided we must simply do some painting so we have beautiful artwork to display!

Here is our non-fiction table with some AWESOME books about Earth Day...including a signed copy (thanks to Mrs. Koerner and Miss Schaffner) of The EARTH Book, by Todd Parr!

One of our standards is to learn how to read words when they added endings, like --ed, --ing, and --s. When our readers find a word like this, they look for the part of the word they know and realize that they can read it! Just look at all of the words we've found so far!

Checkers! Great strategy game!!!

Nayeli found two dedications in her book bag. They both ended with, "with love..." and then she went and made me this card! HOW SWEET!!!!

So Carson's mom, Laurie, came to teach us about their pet hedgehogs yesterday!
It was so fun! They are named Allister, Eloise and Gertrude. I learned that hedgehogs hiss when they're not so happy. Ask your child what facts they learned!

Thanks Laurie for the fun morning!

We also learned that their quills are not super scary and you can touch them and even hold them! Underneath the hedgehog it feels soft and furry :)

Today Skyler noticed that Mo Willems hid the duckling in the end page!

We just have brilliant readers noticing all kinds of things in their books....it's so cool!

CONGRATULATIONS are in order! Ava and Kiera have moved onto the blue snap word book!
Kids who have read the green, yellow and red books can read 98 words!!!! Oh my goodness. To think they're only required to read 20 words by the end of K. It's amazing, isn't it? More successful readers and writers can read more words...

So spread the word...coming to kindergarten a little later in life sets you up for success!

Nathan made this great OPINION sign to help students remember to walk in the hall :)

It says: No running in the hallway. I think that people run too fast. I said stop! (hahaha!)
