Happy Wednesday!

We are gathering more and more fun objects for our shape museum! We'll be sorting them next week!

For our math problem on Monday---I asked the kids what kinds of tools we have in K02 that might be good to use. Here is the list! So glad to see fingers on there!

We read, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and I have a ton of math problems that go with this story. They did really well with simple addition/subtraction problems. Below, you can see Ava and Jaxon using their fingers.

Here is a student using a whiteboard. Notice that he is direct modeling and representing each object in the problem with a circle. He does seem to understand the + symbol, even though this is not required for kindergarten understanding.

Avery was so thoughtful and made us YUUUMMMYYYY chocolate chip cookies and a very special hot pink 12 cookies! How sweet and delicious!

So today we started it. We're building NYC in our hallway. Our room---a total mess---but totally fun!

A week ago I got a good question from my K02 mathematicians. They wanted to know if a cup and a bucket would count as cylinders, since one side is open. So they knew that we should ask K03--because Mrs. Meisenhelder just ADORES math. We got a special letter today from them and learned something new! I just love to see my students questioning. They should be active learners!
