Happy, happy Wednesday!!!

During our math problem solving, we took a close look at our 100 charts again. We practiced counting by 1st, by 10s and figuring out how the numbers are laid out on the chart.

Noah started at 23 and counted by 10s!!!

Jace started at 37 and counted by 10s!!!!

Kristen started at 18 and counted by 10s! Amazing :) A lot of kiddos think you can only count by 10s if you start with 10.

We had a great math problem today. It was I have 2 shapes in my basket. Together, there are 7 sides in all. What shapes could be in my basket.
Right now, we are working on 2-dimensional shapes. We've really spent a lot of time exploring with geoboards, iPads, pattern block cards, anchor charts and math problems. They're talking a lot about the corners/point/vertices, types of lines and sides of each shape.
Natalee figured this problem out right away and solved it! She even added a sentence :)

Here is a snapshot of Alivia sharing her problem and solution with the class. She did a GREAT job too. She told us how she started with a hexagon first, but that it would have 6 sides and so that wouldn't work--because there is no shape with 1 side. SO amazing!!!

Then we proceeded to share with a partner near us.

We are continuing to read the hilarious book, Little Red Cowboy Hat and we made some cowgirls today!
