Happy Monday!

Well...the weather sure isn't fun today...but we are busy learning a lot in K! In fact, we worked right through morning recess :) :) We are learning that we're not at school to play...but to learn!!!

Today, as we wrote a morning sentence together, Ally noticed that the word play was on our schedule and Jaymeson could copy it! Very smart! We always say, "If you see it, write it!"

Here we are sharing during morning meeting. We turn and talk with our elbow partners about what we did over the weekend and then we share what our partners said. We are practicing being good listeners! It's still hard for a lot of our friends to remember what their partner said.

We are just learning about these different punctuation marks. PLEASE look for them in books at home!!! Also, practice this when you write together at home. The stop goes at the end of a sentence. We really should know this stuff by now and are playing catch up with a lot of kiddos. I need your encouragement and extra work at home. Here's what we know...

The period means you read the sentence plainly.
The exclamation point means you read the sentence excited!
The question mark means you raise your voice at the end of the sentence...

We wrote hermit crab facts today! This was very fun! We know that non-fiction books have facts in them. Try to have your child read his or her book to you tonight. If he or she can't figure out the words...then they weren't practicing saying the word slowly and quickly writing down what you hear--instead, they probably copied my book. I really encouraged them not to do this! Another thing we're playing catch up on.
Kiddos need to know how to say a word slowly and write down the sounds they hear.

I would expect that your child know his or her letter sounds by this time in the year. If he or she doesn't, please work on them at home.

Just LOOK at some of these AWESOME facts!!!
